I had a great Saturday with Jen and her Mom. I met the ladies downtown on the UT campus and we made our way to Lady Bird Lake and some other areas :) It was a great day to take photos!

Jen needed some headshots for some upcoming auditions and to have to build her portfolio :)

Well you may have noticed that I've done a little updating around here... mainly my logo and colors - which you may have also seen on my gallery site...

The reason why there are some changes is in part because of winning a custom-site with the help of YOU! I couldn't have done it with out your votes :) so THANK YOU!

The new site does not have a definite date yet, but it should be ready within the first of February. EXCITING STUFF!!

2. Played with photo's levels
3. MCP Actions: Oops I Blew It
4. MCP Actions: Color Burst
5. added a slight vignette

b&w/choco tint

1. used color photo
2. Created a Gradient Map Adjustment layer creating the black and white effect
3. Went to Images>Adjustments>Black&White and added a Tint of Brown

Allison & Jonathan: Family Session

I think I've known these guys for what seems like forever :) ...and when they asked me to do a *surprise* session for their parents as a Christmas present... I was so excited! So, I've been keeping these from the blog for some time now, but now that the *surprise*is out :) I'll go ahead and post them!

They wanted to take photos at the Austin State Capitol because their Mom loves it so much - and most importantly, works in a building right next to the Capitol :)
I think they turned out really well.

Their Mom even said she can't pick her favorite - which is always the best compliment!

The Year of 2009

Oh my gosh WOW!

Is 2009 really really over!? it FLEW by! SERIOUSLY!

I was so excited for this year to start... SOO excited! And now it's already over!?

This year is very special to me. This is the year that I married my wonderful husband. We were married May 23, 2009!! I have loved everything about marriage. I love being a wife to my husband! What a JOY! What an amazing day that was! One I will cherish always!

We also bought our very first house and have begun making it a home. We love it!

I also had many many sessions and many many new events happen with my photography as well.

Christmas Holidays

Tallas: Family Session

I had the pleasure of photographing my cousin and her family this past Sunday. I'm glad we got it all worked out with the cold weather we originally were going to have to shoot in. BRR!

I think they came out great... also, their son just celebrated his 2nd birthday and they wanted to have some photos of him as well to commemorate the fun 2's - he was having a little too much fun with me at the end.

Dana & Billy took me around downtown Austin yesterday afternoon. I found some totally cool places that I wouldn't have really known about otherwise. I've known Dana since high school and have just recently gotten to know Billy. They were a total blast yesterday and I can't wait until their wedding next Fall :)

Texture fun

I've recently been trying out a few textures... Textures can only work on certain images. You don't want it to distract from the actual photo itself. I think these work well :)

It's from my most recent (and first) wedding shoot.
The flower girl was a little camera shy, but, funny faces always fix that :)

Here's my Friday fix it for I ♥ Faces :)

My first choice was to make it bright and airy... Almost has a yellow wash to it.

My steps:
*Fixed Levels: Image>Adjustments>Levels - moved sliders in on left and right
*Boosted Contrast and Brightness: Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast - adjusted sliders to taste
*Added a Photo Filter: Image>Adjustments>Photo Filter>Yellow
*Brought his eyes out with some color overlays: painted in a lighter color than his eye color and changed the blending mode to "overlay". Then I took his eye "ring" color and traced over it and changed the blending mode to "soft light"

Took colored version and did the following steps:

* Sepia Tone: Image>Adjustments>Black&White>added a Tint in the Orange/Yellow family and brought the saturation down
* Added vignette: Filter>Distort>Lens Correction> moved sliders on Lens vignette

Took Sepia version and did the following steps:

* Adjustments>Desaturate (took all color out)
* boosted contrast a little more: Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast - moved sliders to taste

I had the honor of shooting Sarah and Cory's wedding this past weekend. It was my first wedding shoot and it was such a BLAST! Mother Nature didn't necessarily cooperate with their plans, but it turned out so beautifully.

Sarah's Grandmother gave her a beautiful ring as her something old - it was gorgeous!

By the time they had their first look, the rain stopped and gave us some beautiful sunlight :)

COLOR VERSION

these were my first changes:
- fixed levels
- bumped up saturation
- used the burn tool on the mulch grounding
- added lens correction: vignette (Filter>Distort>Lens Correction - Vignette)
- made a mask and erased the vignette off of her skin
- created an overlay layer and "painted" in her eyes to make them pop a brighter blue
- played with photo's contrast (Image>Adjustments>Brightness&Contrast)

DESATURATED VERSION

All I did was:
- took Color version
- opened saturation tool (Image>Adjustments>Hue&Saturation) took down to about 50% saturation
- added a much darker and closed in vignette

SEPIA VERSION
All I did was:
- took COLOR version
- went to Image>Adjustments>Black&White and added a redish tanish tint (tint checkbox and slider at bottom of menu)
- added a much darker and closed in vignette
- added a little noise - Filter>Noise>Add Noise

color: I boosted the color, boosted the contrast, softened the skin and also brightened the skin...

vintage/antique: took color and desaturated a little

B&W: converted color to B&W and boosted the contrast

Well, my sessions have been picking up. I have 2 senior sessions in the middle of April and have one scheduled for next weekend :)

I am helping a friend (my future Sister-in-Law) with a wedding this weekend, which will be great because I have booked a wedding of my own :) be on the lookout for my first wedding photos mid-July! :)

Hey all... I'm happy to announce that I've gotten a few sessions scheduled. There's a possibility of 4 more seniors and then 2 that were already booked. I even have a few baby portrait sessions lined up. Lovin' it! :)

I decided to separate my personal blog from my business blog. I began using it for me and not for my business.
